You've probably heard of Telegram, the messaging software developed by Pavel and Nikolai Durov. Either because you've used it at least once, or you've heard several rumors about it.

"It's not secure. It's not as effective as WhatsApp. It's for hackers. Nothing legitimate happens there..."

You may be right. Or not.

One thing is for sure, after months of use, I am convinced that  Telegram is the best messaging app currently available on the market , especially compared to WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

It has several features, each as practical as the next, which companies can use to optimize their communications and better manage their community.

I'm going to give you  15 reasons why a company should adopt Telegram in its professional communication tools.

1. Use of custom names

Unlike WhatsApp, which only works with the user's phone number and requires the company's number before contacting them, Telegram allows you to use a nickname.

Instead of having  https://wa.me/22960636316  as the contact link, you have  https://t.me/megatechbj  as on social networks Facebook, Instagram and others.

This is also the case for groups where instead of having a group name like this:  https://chat.whatsapp.com/EMOVNerAjFRCgxN7s33C9i,  you have this:  https://t.me/c_megatechbj .

The other advantage this option offers your business is that  your customers, prospects, or partners can find you simply by knowing your company name.

The person no longer needs to know your number or have it saved in their contacts before being able to get in touch with you. With Telegram's search function, they simply enter your company name and find and contact you.

2. Use of Hashtags

As with Twitter and Instagram, hashtags are also important on Telegram. They allow you to create virtual sections where all messages related to a topic are grouped. You can focus on a discussion theme or a specific audience, like the popular Beninese hashtag #wasexo on Twitter.

This allows you to create your own audience, such as #megatech_conferences or #megatech_offers, etc.

In addition, all hashtags are grouped in each user's directory, so your customers can find them by searching their conversation history.

3. Ability to schedule shipments

Telegram allows you to schedule message sending to send them at precisely the right time.

You write your message, you choose the date and time to send it. Your message is sent automatically once the date and time have passed.

Ideal for planning birthday wishes for your clients or a family member. Send reminders to someone by writing messages like " Don't forget your appointment which starts in 30 minutes".

You can even set reminders for yourself so you never forget your most important appointments and schedules again.

4. Organize your discussions by folder or topic

You've probably found yourself lost in hundreds of WhatsApp groups, wasting time trying to find the one you need.

With Telegram, you can group your groups, discussions, and all your exchanges by topic or area of interest:  "unread," "professional group," "training group," "personal discussion,"  etc. It's entirely up to you.

A huge time saver. Plus, you no longer get lost in your discussions.

5. Using bots

A bot or chatbot is a small application that allows you  to schedule conversations so you can automatically respond to and guide your customers based on their needs.  Think of the Facebook Messenger chatbot. It's exactly the same thing.

Telegram allows you to create your own chatbots and configure them to automate your conversations . Even when you're not there, the customer gets all the answers and can even place orders and pay.

This represents a huge time saving for your company, and brings dynamism and efficiency to your discussions and exchanges with your clients and prospects.

6. Ability to create surveys

What could be more important than getting feedback from your customers on a service, a product, an activity or just after a training course?

Telegram allows you to  create polls in your groups and channels to gather feedback from your customers and prospects, conduct market research, etc.

This allows you, as a company, to measure your impact in real time.

7. No data loss

Telegram does not directly save your conversations, files, or anything related to your account directly to your phone. Telegram first saves to the cloud before making a copy on your smartphone.

This means  you never lose your messages, files, or data.  You won't risk losing your conversations overnight. You can switch phones without spending hours backing up your data. You can even format your smartphone without losing any information.

If you ever run out of storage space on your phone,  you can even delete all the images, videos, documents, and other data that Telegram has stored on your phone without any problems.  You can download them again and again afterward without any data loss.

8. Self-destruction of message or media

Similar to Snapchat, Telegram also has a feature that allows your messages or media to self-destruct. Telegram lets you send flash messages—messages with a countdown timer that will disappear after a set time.

You write your message, then you set a self-destruct timeout. As soon as the sender reads the message, the timer starts and the message disappears at the end of the countdown.

Ideal for keeping no trace of certain secret files. And Telegram alerts you when someone tries to take a screenshot.

9. Better synchronization with your computer

You're used to the fact that to use WhatsApp on your computer, your phone absolutely must remain connected to the internet, just like your computer. Otherwise, the connection won't work.

Telegram offers an even better solution.  Once the initial setup is complete on your computer, your phone no longer needs to be connected to the internet to continue using Telegram on your computer.  Your phone can even be turned off. You'll still be able to use Telegram on your computer. This results in significant data savings.

10. Improved rights management within groups

The only way to prevent members from posting inappropriate content in your WhatsApp groups is to restrict posting to the administrator only. Telegram offers more control over this.

You can choose which of your members can post images, text, video, or none at all. You can even create groups where only text can be posted, or only images.

This allows you to better manage your members. Some may not have the ability to post in your groups, others may only post text, others only images, others videos, etc.

You have complete control over your groups. Members will feel less frustrated because you can punish them by banning them from posting because someone has broken the group rules.

11. Upload multiple profile pictures

Telegram allows you to upload multiple profile pictures. And there's no limit to the number of pictures you can upload.

You can then add your product or service catalog to your profile. Your future clients will then be able to access it in real time and even contact you for a specific service or product. This represents a major business advantage.

12. Create a Telegram channel for your business

When we talk about a channel, you probably think of a YouTube channel. It's something similar on Telegram, just with a few differences.

Besides being able to create a group or a supergroup on Telegram, you can create a channel for your business.

Channels allow you to have an unlimited number of followers . These are people to whom you can send your posts (text, images, videos, links, etc.). Another advantage is that  these members have access to a discussion forum directly linked to your channel.  They can follow you on the channel and share their opinions in the forum.

It is the most ideal tool for creating a community around your brand, yourself, or a cause.

13. Share files up to 1.5 GB

Telegram's file management is extensive and efficient.  You can share an unlimited number of photos, videos, and various files (.docx, .zip, .mp3, .pdf, .epub, etc.) up to 1.5 GB each . There are no restrictions on the type of file you can send. You can even send software, and most importantly, without any loss of quality.

14. Edit sent messages

Instead of deleting messages and leaving your interlocutor in doubt, Telegram gives you the option to edit a message that has been sent.

If you still decide to delete, you can do so with a delay of 48 hours after receipt (and reading) by the recipient.

Is it because he made a mistake? What did he say that he doesn't want me to see? Imagine being forced to delete a message in a professional conversation because it's not the right recipient or you made a mistake.

15. Using multiple accounts

With WhatsApp, you only need one app for one account. This means you have to install both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business to configure two numbers. With Telegram, you don't need to install two separate apps to use two different accounts on the same phone.  The single Telegram app you install on your smartphone lets you configure as many accounts as you have numbers.  This is yet another advantage that helps you optimize your storage space.

Apart from the high level of security that Telegram offers, it remains the most effective and comprehensive messaging application for optimizing and better managing a company's communication strategy.

The proof is that WhatsApp continues to copy Telegram's features to keep up with the competition. There's very little WhatsApp functionality that isn't already available on Telegram.

Ultimately, it's up to you to decide and make your choice. One thing is certain: you're losing a lot today if you're not present on Telegram as a brand.
